Twittering: The New Rapid Fire Blogging

If you feel like blogging has taken on a mind of its own, you should get to know the new rage in social application software. It’s an internet tool called Twitter that let’s you post brief updates about your everyday thoughts and activities. They are posted by the minute to the Web via browser, cell phone, or IM. It’s blogging taken to a new extreme level. Twitter’s constant-contact medium allows friends or just anyone to know where you are and what you are doing minute to minute. “The Redirection” (Or Just An Excuse to Bomb Iran?)

“The Redirection” (Or Just An Excuse to Bomb Iran?)

    Snipped from newyorker.com.

As though Bush’s foreign policy hasn’t done enough damage to our global reputation as an arrogant imperialist, we apparently are in the process of planning attacks on another country which is not an imminent threat. It appears that the Pentagon is continuing intensive planning for a possible bombing attack on Iran, a process that began last year, at the direction of the President. However, I smell a rat and its name is Dick. Why Congress is allowing this loose canon to continue to plot his evil intentions behind the scenes is beyond me. You won’t believe what Cheney and Company is up to now.

    Harnessing Power from the Sea

California is looking at harnessing power from the sea to help meet the state’s energy demand. Although not yet widely used, many believe tidal power has more potential than wind or solar power for meeting alternative energy needs. Quest radio looks at plans for tidal and wave power off San Francisco and along the northern California coast.

    How Buildings Evolve (or Devolve)
    Written by 2000l, June 29th, 2007

I wonder if homes in the past fifty years or so have undergone a similar evolution in architecture– or devolution, depending on your point of view– as churches.

How Well Do You Know Your Candidates?

How Well Do You Know Your Candidates?

    Ah, damn it!

Okay, so you’ve been a good American citizen and have listened to all the presidential debates so that you will be an informed voter. So, do you think you know your candidates? You may be surprised that it may be very difficult to differentiate between them. Why? Because they use “poli-speak” (a term I coined). This means that they speak a political language in which they don’t actually say anything. In order to test your candidate savy, I have provided quotes below taken from speeches that the candidates have made. It will be up to you to match the quote(s) with the candidate. Good luck.

    The World Without Us

Posted in Environment, Scientific American, Future at 9:57 pm by Kevin

    The World Without Us

A new book is out: The World Without Us. This isn’t some left-wing or Islamo-fascist book about how much better the world would be without the United States. This is speculative science, and I don’t use the word “speculative” in a negative sense. The book asks the question: “What would happen to the Earth if suddenly, all people were removed?”
